Enjoy four days and four nights at the Burris family cottage on Charleston Lake in Ontario, Canada at the peak of fall leaf color learning new techniques to make a one of a kind quilted animal collage. We include 2x daily yoga sessions and healthy organic meals. Participants will be limited to six women. Only 1 spot left!

Instructors:

Rosemary Burris:  Rose has been creating quilt collages for four years and has received numerous awards at shows including the Pacific International Quilt Festival in the art quilt category. She teaches animal collage in Portland, Oregon.


Pamela Burris.  Pam is a certified yoga instructor and teaches wellness courses at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. (Yes, they are sisters.) Pam is trained in the tantric philosophy of Hatha yoga. She has studied under teachers in the specific practices of Ashtanga, Anusara, Kripalu, and Embodyoga® (the latter being most recent and incorporating the body-mind centering work of Bonnie Bainbridge-Cohen).  Her teaching incorporates pranayama, a flow series as well as a final resting meditation.

Location Details:

Cottage is lakefront, located on beautiful Charleston Lake in Ontario, Canada. It is 2 ¼ hours north of Syracuse, New York. There is a large Provincial Park that can be easily accessed for hiking its numerous trails.

Accommodations:

The cottage has 4 guest bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms, divided by a large open living room and kitchen. It is heated by electric baseboard heaters and a woodstove. Drinking water is from a deep private well. See our VRBO web site for more information and photos:  https://www.vrbo.com/1216597

Quilt collage work will occur at the cabin next door, which has a large open area for leaving your daily work in progress.

Dates: 

Arrive any time after 2 pm on Wednesday, October 10th. Instruction begins on Thursday, October 11th and will continue until 2 pm on Sunday, October 14th.  We can be flexible with arrival and departures if needed.
 

Schedule:

Join in an early AM stretch and yoga session to start the day. After which we will have breakfast and then head next door to begin quilting. There is an hour of free time after lunch to hike or rest and then another 2.5 hour quilt session. Appetizers and happy hour begin at 5:30 followed by dinner. Before retiring to bed, a restorative yoga session is offered.   

Meals Provided:

All meals provided along with a glass of wine and an appetizer plate will be provided before dinner each night. Bring your own alcohol if you desire additional. 

We strive to provide healthy whole foods and organic ingredients, whenever possible. Please let us know of any dietary preference or considerations. 

Costs:

$600 Includes Instruction, Lodging and Meals

2 Private bedrooms (Queen beds)  $600 each - 1 reserved (lakeside); 1 reserved non-lakeside.
Shared bedroom (Full bed and twin bed) 1 each available  $575 each -  Both reserved 
Shared bedroom (Full bed and twin bed) 1 each available $550 each -  1 bed reserved; 1 twin bed available.

Quilting Options

Option 1: Bernice the Cat Template: $30/person (includes ALL fabrics for the composition).  See Bernice II on www.rosemaryburris.com/gallery


Option 2: Your Pet/Animal Template: $30/person (includes LIMITED amounts of fabric). You will work with Rosemary minimally 3 weeks prior to identify a photograph of your pet that will work well with this process. She will develop custom templates and detailed nose/eyes patterns & fabric.

Accessibility Information:

Access to both cabins require the ability to walk up and down stairs. For questions, please contact us.

What to Bring:

Passport. Necessary to enter Canada and clear customs!
Yoga mat and comfortable yoga clothing.
Warm jacket, hat, gloves and umbrella.
Sturdy sneakers or hiking shoes.

Quilt supplies -- this will be mailed out after registration is received.

Registrations will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis. Download here: Registration Form

Cancellation/Refund Policy:

You must notify Rosemary to cancel your registration by September 1st to receive your refund, minus $25 processing fee. Any cancellations later than that will be returned at 50% unless you find a substitute for your place. Should you need to cancel, submit your request by e-mail to burrisro@gmail.com and copy pkayburris@comcast.net.   * In order for this retreat to occur, a minimum of 5 people are required.  All moneys will be returned if cancellation becomes necessary.
